Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Brownhaze Jewelry & Accessories collects when you shop our handmade jewelry and hand-painted apparel, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It covers our Los Angeles studio, this website and every order placed through it.

Information we collect

We keep data collection small and purposeful. Nothing is collected unless it helps us make, ship or support your handmade jewelry order.

  • Contact details you give us — name, email address and phone number — when you place an order, subscribe to studio notes, request a custom order or write to us.
  • Order and delivery details, including shipping address, items purchased and order history, so we can produce and deliver your handmade jewelry and hand-painted apparel.
  • Payment information. Card details are entered on a secure, hosted checkout page and are never stored on our servers or seen by our studio team. We only receive a confirmation that a payment succeeded, plus the last four digits of the card and the amount charged.
  • Newsletter email address when you join the studio list, and your subscription status if you unsubscribe.
  • Messages you send through our contact form, custom order form or AI Style Advisor, including any preferences, colors or photos you choose to share.
  • Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and pages viewed, collected automatically so the storefront loads correctly and so we can see which handmade jewelry and sustainable apparel pages people actually use.
  • Cart contents stored in your browser so your selections survive a refresh, and a cookie remembering that you dismissed our newsletter prompt.

How we use your information

We use your personal information to run the shop and the studio, never to build a profile for sale.

  • To process, produce, package and ship your order, including custom jewelry and made-to-order denim jackets.
  • To send order updates, delivery confirmations and answers to your questions.
  • To send studio notes and early access to new pieces when you ask for them — every email includes a way to unsubscribe in one click.
  • To improve our product pages, size guidance and collections by understanding which handmade jewelry and sustainable apparel pieces visitors search for.
  • To keep the storefront secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
  • To operate the AI Style Advisor, which uses the preferences you type to suggest pieces — we do not use those messages to train third-party models.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of first-party cookies and local storage for essential storefront functions: keeping your cart, remembering your cookie choice and measuring aggregate traffic.

Analytics data is reviewed in aggregate — how many people visited a collection, which pages led to a purchase — and is never used to identify you individually. You can block or clear cookies in your browser at any time; the cart and checkout will still work, but some conveniences such as a remembered cart may reset.

Who we share information with

We never sell personal information, and we never rent your email address to other jewelry brands or marketers.

  • Payment processing is handled by our payments provider on a secure hosted page.
  • Shipping carriers receive the name and delivery address needed to deliver your order, and nothing more.
  • Email delivery and hosting providers process data on our behalf under contract and only on our instructions.
  • Professional advisers and authorities when the law requires it, or when we must protect our customers, our studio or our rights.
  • A successor business if Brownhaze is ever merged or acquired — you would be told before your data moved and a different policy applied.

How long we keep your data

Order records are kept as long as needed for warranty, returns and tax requirements — generally seven years. Newsletter addresses stay on the studio list until you unsubscribe. Contact and custom order messages are kept for up to two years so we can pick up a conversation about your piece where you left it. Cart data lives only in your browser and disappears when you clear it.

Your privacy rights

Wherever you shop from, we honor the same core rights. If you live in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we hold, to request a copy, to ask us to delete or correct it, and to opt out of sharing — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

To make a request, email us at sales@brownhazejewelry.com with the subject line “Privacy request”. We verify requests using the email address on the order, and we respond within 45 days. If you are in the EU or UK, you may also object to processing, request portability or lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

How we protect your information

Orders are transmitted over encrypted connections, payment details stay with our payments provider, and access to customer records is limited to the studio team members who need it to fulfill or support an order. No system is perfect, but if a breach ever affected your data we would notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

Children's privacy

Our store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change — a new payment option, a new analytics tool — we update this page and move the date at the top. Material changes are announced to our studio list, so the policy you read here is always the one that applies to your order.

Questions about your data?

Write to the studio and a person — not a bot — will answer. We reply to every privacy request within 45 days, and usually much sooner.
